The Life of Chuck (Theatrical Release, June 6)

What would a year be with at least one (if not many) Stephen King adaptations hitting our screens? Heading to theaters at the beginning of June is The Life of Chuck, a film based on King’s 2020 novella of the same name. And it’s directed by Mike Flanagan, who really seems to love his Stephen King adaptations. He also directed Gerald’s Game and Doctor Sleep. Tom Hiddleston stars as Chuck. The film also stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Karen Gillan, Mark Hamill, and Jacob Tremblay. It hits select theaters on June 6 and will be everywhere on June 13.

Marvel fans have been waiting for this one! Ironheart follows MIT student and genius inventor Riri Williams, also known as Ironheart. Cast also includes Anthony Ramos, Alden Ehrenreich, Anji White, Lyric Ross, Jim Rash, Matthew Elam, and Sacha Baron Cohen.

marry my husband tv show poster

Marry My Husband (Prime, June 27)

If this title seems familiar to you, it’s because a Korean version of this story was released in 2024. Now, the Japanese adaptation of the NAVER web novel is coming to Prime at the end of this month. Note that this is a different adaptation, not a remake of the Korean series, so don’t expect to see the exact same characters or plot points. The series stars Takeru Satō and Fūka Koshiba and tells the story of a wallflower named Misa whose husband’s betrayal with her best friend leads to her tragic death. Then Misa is suddenly transported ten years into the past, and she sees her opportunity to seek out revenge.

What movies and shows will you be watching this June? Maybe all of them?

As always, we wish there were more adaptations of works by authors of color on the release schedule this month. But make sure to check out some of the ones that have come out recently. Some of our favorites? The Better Sister, the new Amazon series based on the novel by Alafair Burke; XO, Kitty, a Netflix adaptation of the character Kitty from Jenny Han’s To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before; and of course, the Academy Award-nominated film Nickel Boys, based on the novel by Colson Whitehead, is now available to stream! If you haven’t seen these yet, check them out!
