The Perfect Fragrances for Harry Potter Characters, Part II

I’m back with more fragrances and Harry Potter characters! If you missed round one, be sure to check it out.  Let these scent descriptions carry you away to the magic and mystery of the Wizarding World.

Vincent Crabbe and Axe

Just Axe. Lots of it. A cloud of Axe following Crabbe ( and probably Goyle) around at all times, choking innocent first-years. Just thinking about Axe yanks me back to 2006. Ugh.

Bellatrix Lestrange and The Fame by Lady Gaga

This perfume is wild. The Fame is a dark floral, with notes that are said to mimic that of blood and uh, other bodily fluids. Belladonna and incense create the “dark” accord, the “sensual” accord subsists of honey, saffron, and apricot, and the “light” has tiger orchid and jasmine notes. Together, they create a musty floral that is somewhere between a Victorian funeral and an expensive nightclub. The liquid of the perfume itself is as black as Bellatrix’s heart. Just because she’s evil, doesn’t mean she can’t smell good.

Neville Longbottom and Aqua Di Gio Pour Homme by Armani

Like Harry, Neville would probably go pretty classic with his fragrance choice. Aqua Di Gio is a blend of fresh, marine notes and citrine botanics such as bergamot and persimmon. The hint of rosemary speaks to Neville’s herbology talents.

Minerva McGonagall and Kitten Fur by Demeter

Kitten Fur is a warm, cozy scent that smells like how wearing your favorite worn-out flannel shirt feels. A bit spicy, a bit sweet, Kitten Fur is suited to McGonagall’s stern, yet caring personality. I’m sure McGonagall’s had a catnap in the sunshine once or twice during her Hogwarts tenure, but only when no one was looking.

Nymphadora Tonks and Bamboo by Gucci

Clean and slightly masculine, Bamboo is a sexy daytime appropriate perfume. The bergamot top note keeps Bamboo fresh while base notes of amber and sandalwood warm it up. Tonks may be able to change her appearance at will, but wearing a clean fragrance like Bamboo matches her bright spirit no matter what her hair is doing.

Ginny Weasley and Black Opium Nuit Blanche by YSL

Black Opium Nuit Blanche is a spicy, energetic fragrance with notes of coffee, pink pepper, and orange blossom. Ginny is an accomplished and fiercely independent witch; you don’t want to be on the receiving end of one of her bat-bogey hexes! Black Opium Nuit Blanche strikes the balance between sweet and warm and fresh and young, perfect for Ginny.

Molly Weasley and Vanille Extreme by Comptoir Sud Pacifique

Conjure up a mental image of Molly Weasley. She is the picture of motherly love in the wizarding world. She’s known for her sweaters, her cooking, and for scolding her children with love. Of course, Molly would wear a gourmand fragrance. Vanille Extreme is just that. Extreme vanilla. Vanilla sugar, vanilla cupcakes, tropical vanilla. Warmth, sweetness, and comfort, just like a hug from Molly.

Fred and George Weasley and Music Festival by Replica

Sadly, I could not find a perfume that smells like gunpowder and mischief. However, Music Festival features notes of leather, cannabis, and woods, which is exactly what imagine Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes to smell like. Shh, don’t tell Molly.

Voldemort and Black Phantom—“Momento Mori” by Kilian

Voldemort has a flair for drama, clearly. Momento Mori was practically designed for Voldemort. It comes in a locked box, with a black skull on top and Achilles’ shield on the inside as a symbol of protection. The scent itself is a dangerous gourmand: coffee and rum, with a cyanide accord running throughout, finishing with sugarcane and dark sandalwood.
