- Four-time winner is road captain for Israel Start-Up Nation
- Froome, 36, has missed last two Tours after serious injury
Chris Froome will return to the Tour de France for the first time in three years as the road captain of the Israel Start-Up Nation team. Froome, the four-times champion, missed the last two editions of the race following a horror crash which threatened to end his career.
The 36-year-old fractured a femur, elbow and ribs in June 2019 after hitting a wall while training for the fourth stage of the Critérium du Dauphiné. He will provide support for his Canadian team leader, Michael Woods, while the rest of ISN’s lineup is yet to be confirmed but is expected to include the Irishman Dan Martin, a previous Tour stage winner.
