Sunday 16th December

Our event of the day is the Premier League fixture between Liverpool and Manchester United at Anfield. Liverpool are now the only unbeaten team in the league. United have seemed lacklustre this season and travel to Liverpool in 6th, having only won one of their last five fixtures. However, Liverpool has historically struggled against the Red Devils so be sure you don’t miss what is set to be an exciting match. With Manchester City’s loss to Chelsea last week, Liverpool is the last remaining unbeaten team in the Premier League. They have won 13 and drawn 3 whilst they last lost a league game in May. They are enjoying a 5-game winning streak in the league, having scored 13 goals in those 5 games. They also welcome United to Anfield having secured a place in the Champions League round of 16 with a crucial win over Napoli in their last match of the group stage. Liverpool has built a dominant team with minimal weaknesses. A potent attack led by stars such as Mo Salah, who has 10 goals alone this season, have scored 34 goals while starting keeper Alisson has only allowed six goals all season, including keeping ten clean sheets.

Meanwhile, Manchester United have had an underwhelming domestic campaign so far this season. They are currently in 6th and have not been a top-5 team since the first week of the season. They have been particularly lacklustre recently, with 1 win, 3 draws and 1 loss in their last five games. However, they do enter today’s game against Liverpool on the back of a 4-1 win over Fulham. They will travel to Anfield with nine first team injuries and are likely to miss a sizeable portion of their defence, making the daunting task of facing Liverpool that more difficult. However, Liverpool is without a win in their last eight league games against United, drawing three and losing five. While United are the underdogs in this match up, a win for Liverpool is far from a sure thing. Be sure you don’t miss what will be an exciting afternoon of football in Liverpool.

Honourable mentions around the globe to the Men’s Hockey World Cup final. The Netherlands face Belgium at the Kalinga Stadium. Belgium, who have looked strong all tournament, breezed past England in a 6-0 win in their semi-final yesterday. England had stunned tournament favourites Argentina in the quarter-finals but they could not match Belgium’s dominance. Meanwhile, reigning champions Australia fell in heart-breaking fashion to the Netherlands. After coming back from 2-0, Australia forced a shootout and took a 3-2 lead but Andrew Charter could not keep Thijs Van Dam from scoring, forcing sudden death. A fierce shot from Jeroen Hertzberger finished the game and denied Australia a chance at a hat-trick of tournament wins. However, the Netherlands and Belgium will play a hard-fought final so be sure you don’t miss it. Elsewhere, in the NBA, the Denver Nuggets host the Toronto Raptors at the Pepsi Center. TheUCI Track Cycling World Cup continues at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London. In the NFL, the Chicago Bears host the Green Bay Packers at Soldier Field. In NCAA Basketball, 9th ranked Michigan State face Green Bay at the Breslin Center. The Alfred Dunhill Golf Championship continues at the Leopard Creek Country Club in South Africa.

Whatever you’re watching, enjoy!
