With several action franchises under his belt, from The Matrix to John Wick, you’d think Keanu Reeves would be a pretty solid guardian angel. After all, it seems like he could fight off damn near any threat!

However, that’s not the case in Good Fortune, which sees Reeves playing an angel named Gabriel. No, not that Gabriel. Reeves’ character is more of a “budget guardian angel.”

Written and directed by Aziz Ansari (Parks and Recreation, Master of None) in his feature directorial debut, Good Fortune centers on Gabriel’s attempts to prove himself as a guardian angel. Usually stuck with helping people who are choking or texting while driving, Gabriel yearns for more meaningful duties. That means finding a lost soul and teaching them how beautiful their life can be.

Gabriel finds such a soul in struggling gig worker Arj (Ansari). However, his plans to give Arj’s life meaning go awry when he body swaps Arj with wealthy venture capitalist Jeff (Seth Rogen).

Originally meant to teach Arj that wealth isn’t the answer, Gabriel’s tactic backfires when it turns out that Arj really loves Jeff’s lifestyle. The price for Gabriel’s failure? Losing his wings and living among the humans. However, based on the trailer above, which shows Gabriel chowing down on fast food and boogieing up a storm, it doesn’t seem like that punishment is that bad. Right?

In addition to Reeves, Ansari, and Rogen, Good Fortune also stars Sandra Oh and Keke Palmer.

Good Fortune hits theaters Oct. 17.
