JBL updates its portable speakers with fresh look and USB-C

Aligned with this year’s semi-virtual IFA Berlin trade show, which officially kicks off on Sept. 3, JBL has thoroughly refreshed its lineup of portable Bluetooth speakers.

Three of JBL’s Bluetooth speakers have gotten new version numbers: the ultra-loud JBL Xtreme 3, as well as the tiny JBL Clip 4 and JBL Go 3. 

The differences in sound, compared to the previous iterations, probably aren’t massive, though JBL does claim the Xtreme 3 has four improved drivers and two Bass Radiators, helping it to deliver an “even bigger immersive stereo sound.”

But all three speakers have received important updates in terms of connectivity and aesthetics as well as some important new features. All three are now waterproof and dustproof up to IP67 specification, all support Bluetooth 5.1, and perhaps most importantly, all have a USB-C connection.
