Motorola Razr fails CNET’s durability test, ‘breaks’ after only 27,000 folds

If you’re planning on purchasing the new Motorola Razr today or even this weekend, you might want to hold off. Following CNET’s test with the FoldBot, a tool by SquareTrade that literally just folds and unfolds a device to test durability, the hinge on the Razr broke after only 27,000 folds.

Imagine paying $1,500 for a phone that might not even last you an entire year. 

*And now, a moment of silence for those who already did.*

Judging by CNET’s entire experience, though, it seems like things were rough from the start. Apparently, the plan was to stream a live-show for over 12 hours in an attempt to see if the phone could get to 100,000 folds. Read more…
