‘SNL’ introduces its new Biden in a cold open riff on Mike Pence’s vaccine shot

Welcome to a new, Trump-less era of Saturday Night Live cold opens. We made it! After four long years of Alec Baldwin’s play-bloviating, the IRL tyrant is on his way out as a new administration takes over in the United States.

Up until Dec. 19, there was reason to believe that new administration might be led in the SNL crew by Jim Carrey. But Carrey has confirmed that his stint as President-elect Joe Biden was temporary, and now he’s done.

In this cold open, which amounts to an extended riff on Mike Pence’s vaccine moment earlier in the week, we meet SNL‘s new Biden. And thankfully, it appears to be a regular cast member.
