Stephen Colbert’s final impeachment monologue ends with a powerful message of hope

So the results are in, and — to absolutely no-one’s surprise — the Senate voted to acquit Donald Trump.

Stephen Colbert wasn’t surprised, either. But he did have some sharp words for the president post-impeachment trial, and for those in the Republican party suggesting he’d learned his lesson.

“The only lesson Trump ever learns is that he gets away with everything,” said Colbert. “Multiple bankruptcies; nothing. Multiple sexual assault accusations; nothing. He’s in perfect health despite eating like a rat behind the Bob’s Big Boy.”

Still, every cloud has a silver lining, even if it is a very faint one. And Colbert finished his monologue with a message of hope, praising Mitt Romney for being the only Republican Senator to vote against Trump. Read more…
