Introducing new JVM language Concurnas

It’s not every day that a new JVM language is born unto the world, so to celebrate the arrival of Concurnas we published a complete introduction to the programming language by creator Jason Tatton last week. Concurnas has modern syntax and features, is open source and has GPU computing built in, which opens up the possibility for machine learning applications.

Istio 1.5 simplifies its deployment model with Istiod

The newest release of Istio, version 1.5, landed last week. It improves CPU performance, includes a new extension model for proxy servers, and graduates some security settings. How do you follow up such a successful year as 2019? The roadmap for 2020 shows that Istio’s plans going forward include making it sleeker, smoother, and faster.

JavaScript on top, Python ties with Java in RedMonk rankings

It seems like not a week goes by without a new programming language ranking! Last week, the first quarter bi-annual Programming Language rankings from RedMonk arrived. RedMonk tracks the most popular languages using data from GitHub and Stack Overflow. This quarter, the number one programming language is JavaScript, which comes as no surprise. However, a few other languages moved up the charts.
