Are you using Graal? If you are using Twitter, you probably are. As Chris Thalinger (Twitter) shared with us in an interview at JAX London after his talk:
“A lot of the Twitter infrastructure today, a lot of our microservices run 100% on Graal in production, so everything you tweet today is processed by, code-compiled by Graal.”
In the video, Chris explains what the confusion around the term GraalVM is all about, which different editions are available and why it’s being used at Twitter – and he touches on his keynote topic how Graal can be beneficial to the environment.
Chris Thalinger is a software engineer working on Java Virtual Machines for over 15 years. His main expertise is in compiler technology with Just-In-Time compilation in particular. Initially being involved with the CACAO and GNU Classpath projects, the focus shifted to OpenJDK as soon as Sun made the JDK open-source.
